In general, hard work, such as agriculture and mining, was provided in the Antique Roman society by slaves. Occasional handwork was used for some urgent seasonal works (harvesting, picking up olives, grapes, etc.).
It was established that for 100 ha of vineyard 60 slaves were needed.
A metallurgical workshop was discovered in the Roman castrum from Dealul Pomet (Pomet Hill) from Porolissum.
The most important domestic occupations in the Roman society were wool and natural fibers processing, clothing manufacturing, skin processing, etc.
The horse was used by the Romans especially with a military purpose, its presence in particular households being considered as a sign of prosperity.
